Following our initial WikiBrunch at WikiBär, we also decided to do meetups in a home-based and more informal space with fully equipped kitchen in one of our chef's home. The aim of this gathering was to bring together expat and migrant queers and allies, speakers of South Slavic languages, with a focus on connecting and strengthening this community. In the long term, the we hope initiative also opens space for potential larger-scale and expanded-format events, in collaboration with Wikimedia Deutschland.
This gathering connected people interested in spending time together in salon like discussions and collective food sharing-making, with an emphasis on homemade vegetarian and vegan food, traditional and new (macrobiotic) recipes. The potluck format allowed participants to actively contribute to the table, further encouraging exchanges and a sense of sharing. Over (number of) hours we had (numer of ) people joining. Although this first home-based gathering was not as well attended as initially expected, the emerging core group reflected a diverse mix of participants from different professional and social backgrounds (including:___), with strong ties to the local Berlin and broader German alternative social and cultural scenes.
The experience of organizing this gathering gave us additional motivation to continue meeting on a monthly basis and to develop wiki-making experiments on WikiSpore and WikiBrunch as a solidary, inclusive, and sustainable connection for collective practices.
