Org:Govdirectory
Govdirectory is both a data development project for items on Wikidata about official government institutions and services, and its distinctive front end on Toolhub.
The founders expressed a vision of making governments responsive, inclusive, and participatory. The goal is for this directory to be useful to journalists, web-archivists, researchers, and regular citizens.[1]
The data about government institutions gathered and organized in Wikidata items. There is active discussion on Wikidata, in a Telegram chat, and in weekly meetings.
Govdirectory has been recognized as a Digital Public Good by the Digital Public Goods Alliance and received the 2024 Award for Projects of Social Benefit from the Free Software Foundation.[2][3] You’re also welcome to join an online Collab Hour (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_Govdirectory/Events) to learn more. These are held weekly at 8PM Thursday and 9AM Friday, EDT.
