Wikidata International Software Collaboration

Description | By moving the responsibility for an essential part of the Wikidata core software to an additional movement entity, in this specific case Lexems and Wikimedia Indonesia, WMDE wants to achieve 5 things: 1. Skill sharing 2. Resource redistribution away from the global north 3. Shifting of power, responsibility and leadership 5. The creation of better products that truly suit the needs of people most affected by them. 6. Taking first concrete steps to turn our (WMDEs) core software infrastructure into something that is easily expandable by parties who are not sitting with us in Berlin. To be very clear: this is an experiment in many ways from which we hope to learn many things and ideally will be able to learn how things like this are being done well. |
