Building on the momentum of previous months, the March edition of the Wikibrunch exYU gathering once again brought together a close circle of friends and acquaintances in a relaxed and welcoming setting, making it a vibrant, springtime gathering.

Twenty-three participants came together for an afternoon shaped by food, dialogue, and connection. The vegan and vegetarian potluck format remained at the heart of the event, with guests contributing a rich variety of homemade dishes. The shared table—and two cozy rooms of this Berlin apartment—became more than a place to eat: they evolved into spaces of exchange, where flavors intertwined with personal stories and experiences.

Discussions moved fluidly across diverse topics, including perspectives on current social and political developments. Equally present were conversations about mutual support and everyday solidarity, reinforcing the group’s commitment to collective care. The WhatsApp group established in previous gatherings continued to strengthen communication and maintain connections beyond the events, bringing participants closer together.

The menu reflected both creativity and shared values, featuring an array of dishes such as avocado-peach carpaccio, cottage cheese pie, celery-apple-beetroot salad, vegan begova čorba, koljevo, lentils-barley-buckwheat and hijiki algae salad, bruschettas with wild garlic, tomato-cucumber-feta salad, baked cheesecake, tofu salad, hummus, diverse vegetable snacks, and homemade pulled-dough breads like krompiruša and sirnica. The emphasis on plant-based food once again highlighted a collective orientation toward sustainability, openness, and resource sharing.

Spanning approximately four hours, the gathering brought together individuals from a wide range of backgrounds—including hospitality workers, artists, academics, care workers, sustainability practitioners, those currently between jobs, and children—creating a dynamic and inclusive environment for exchange and connection.

As the afternoon came to a close, participants shared and took home leftover food and collectively contributed to cleaning the space, underscoring the collaborative ethos that defines the initiative.

The March gathering reaffirmed the strength of this informal and participatory model—not only as a social event, but as an evolving platform for individual growth, group transformation, and the continued strengthening of a trans-local migrant and expat community.
