Following the positive experiences from previous months, the February gathering continued in the established format, focusing on a close circle of friends and acquaintances. Without additional outreach or promotion, the event once again fostered a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging open exchange, meaningful conversations, and a strong sense of community among participants.
The brunch, centered on a vegan and vegetarian potluck concept, was warmly received. Guests contributed a diverse selection of homemade dishes, turning the shared table into a space of both culinary variety and personal storytelling. Conversations flowed around how participants had met, their experiences of living in Berlin, connections to their hometowns, reflections on current social and political developments, as well as ways of supporting one another. To strengthen communication beyond the gatherings, a WhatsApp group was also created for ongoing exchange and coordination.
The menu featured a rich assortment of dishes, including fresh salads, baked vegetables, pastries, legumes, and sweets, reflecting both individual creativity and shared values of sustainability, plant-based eating, and collective care.
The gathering lasted approximately four hours and brought together 17 participants from a range of professional and personal backgrounds, including those working in hospitality, the arts, academia, care work, sustainability, as well as individuals currently between jobs. This diversity contributed to a dynamic exchange of perspectives and experiences.
As in previous gatherings, participants actively contributed not only through food but also by helping to maintain the space. At the end of the event, leftovers were shared and taken home, and participants supported the organizers with cleaning, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the brunch.
Overall, the February gathering once again confirmed that this informal and participatory format provides a strong foundation for continued meetups, knowledge sharing, and the strengthening of a trans-local migrant and expat community.
