Following the November and December brunches, we decided to continue organizing gatherings throughout 2026, focusing on a circle of friends and acquaintances. Without additional outreach or promotion, this format proved highly effective in creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It encouraged open exchange, strengthened connections, and fostered a shared sense of engagement among participants.

The brunch, centered on a vegan and vegetarian potluck concept, was once again met with great enthusiasm. Guests contributed generously, bringing a wide range of homemade dishes that transformed the table into a vibrant space of flavors and stories. Alongside the food, participants shared personal reflections on how they met, memories of Berlin and their hometowns, and perspectives on current global and regional democratic developments.

The menu included fruit salad, baked beans, baklava, shakshuka, cheese pie, tofu quinoa salad, and fresh salads, among other dishes. This diversity not only reflected the group’s culinary creativity but also highlighted shared values around sustainability, plant-based living, and collective participation.

The gathering lasted four hours and brought together 19 participants from diverse professional and personal backgrounds, including chefs and hospitality workers, artists, academics, care workers, and sustainability practitioners. Overall, the experience reaffirmed that this informal, collaborative format provides a strong foundation for future meetups, ongoing knowledge exchange, and the strengthening of a trans-local migrant and expat community.

At the end of the gathering, participants took home leftover food and supported the organizers with cleaning, reinforcing the collective and caring spirit of the event. To mark the occasion of one participant’s birthday, the group also played a game. As part of the celebration, the host treated several participants who won the game competition with restaurant meal vouchers, adding a playful and generous note to the gathering.
