Description | Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom is the Wikimedia Foundation’s flagship teacher training program, helping both educators and students to develop vital media and info literacy skills for the 21st century. The program is implemented globally by certified trainers, some of whom have received grant funding from WMF. So far, 53 trainers have been certified in more than 30 countries, with the materials being translated into at least 12 languages including indigenous languages like Aymara. |

Seeking collaboration with | In the near future, the Wikimedia Foundation’s Education Team will offer “on demand” training to institutions who would like to train a large number of trainers. This opportunity is a good fit for teacher training institutions, ministries of education, or organizations that support large numbers of teachers. Certified trainers can be both independent volunteers or members/staff of movement affiliates. The Education Team supports certified trainers to engage partners that can help them with local implementations, so fielding potential partners that would be interested to support this teacher training is another way to get involved. There is also plenty of opportunity to support this program through adapting and translating the learning materials. More information can be found on Meta. |
