Wikidata ID Q3809586 not found. Wikipedians (or Wikimedians) in Residence (WiRs) are Wikimedians who work at a non-Wikimedia organization. Wikipedians in Residence may be volunteers, but are more often paid by the institution or by a Wikimedia chapter."[1]
The Wikipedian in Residence is an in-house Wikimedia editor at the host organisation, and often offers training. Broadly, WiRs are to help to enable the organisation to have effective and productive relationships with Wikimedia people and sites during and after the Residency. The first Wikipedians in Residence were at GLAM institutions. There are examples at the UN, and in scientific or regulatory institutions too.
A substantial list of over 160 past WiR arrangements is on the Wikimedia Outreach site. We can identify some others, e.g. the WiR at NOISH.
