DescriptionThis project aims to improve and address the content and structures on Wikidata related to on the histories of racial chattel slavery and it's on-going legacies. With a focus on supporting leadership and skills of afrodescendent contributors to Wikidata and platforms, and working within the interdisciplinary approaches of Africana Studies and Black Studies.

This project aims to:

  • improve how data about enslaved people, self-liberated people, and the histories of racialised chattel slavery is modelled and structured
  • add knowledge created by enslaved people
  • develop ethical approaches to data modelling about enslaved people, enslavement and freedom
