inventaire is a libre/free software infrastructure to store and share bibliographic metadata and manage resources like book holdings.

Description:

Inventaire.io has two distinct parts: - The first part is the web app allows anyone to list their books by scanning the bar code. Once established, this inventory can be made visible to friends, groups, or even publicly, indicating for each book if one would like to give, lend or sell it. Users can send each other requests for books and get in contact to make the exchange (by hand, by postal service, it’s up to them, Inventaire is not involved anymore.) - The second part is the public, bibliographical database about authors, works, publishers etc. which can be improved by all users, like in a wiki. This gravitates around the knowledge commons (see below) that are Wikipedia and Wikidata. This bibliographic database makes it possible to link the inventories to a huge graph of bibliographical data, the possibilities of which we have only just scratched the surface of.[1]
