The Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) is a collaboration among U.S. libraries to provide public access to digital library holdings to create a large-scale virtual public digital library. DPLA regularly partners with Wikimedia efforts.[1]
They have about 10 employees listed on their web site, all experienced doing digital operations at libraries.[2]
They are an independent organization with many network relations to universities and other library institutions using what they call a "Hub model" which may be analogous to the one for Wikimedia.[3] Originally DPLA started at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society.[4]
