The Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) is a collaboration among U.S. libraries to provide public access to digital library holdings to create a large-scale virtual public digital library. DPLA regularly partners with Wikimedia efforts.

They have about 10 employees listed on their web site, all experienced doing digital operations at libraries.

They are an independent organization with many network relations to universities and other library institutions using what they call a "Hub model" which may be analogous to the one for Wikimedia. Originally DPLA started at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society.
