Ocean Bay Apartments (Bayside) is a public housing complex in the Arverne neighborhood of Far Rockaway, Queens, New York City. It consists of 24 buildings with 1,395 units that house nearly 4,000 residents². The complex was built in the early 1960s by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) as part of the Arverne Urban Renewal Area³. The complex is located on Beach Channel Drive between Beach 53rd and Beach 54th Streets, adjacent to Ocean Bay Apartments (Oceanside), another NYCHA development¹.

In 2017, NYCHA announced a $560 million renovation project for Ocean Bay Apartments (Bayside), funded by federal disaster recovery funds and low-income housing tax credits. The project aimed to improve the living conditions and resiliency of the complex, which was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy in 2012⁴. The renovation included new kitchens, bathrooms, windows, flooring, roofs, boilers, elevators, security systems and playgrounds for the residents. The project also involved adding a new mixed-use building with retail space and community facilities on vacant land near the complex¹⁴.

The renovation project was completed in 2020 and was praised by local officials and residents as a model for public housing revitalization. The project also created hundreds of jobs for local workers and contractors².
