Idlewild Park

Idlewild Park is a public park located in Queens, New York City. It covers 242 acres of land and contains various habitats, such as grassland, salt marsh, freshwater wetland and woodland. It is one of the largest parks in Queens and one of the Forever Wild nature preserves designated by NYC Parks². It is also home to a variety of wildlife, such as birds, fish, crabs and insects.

The park was named after Idlewild Airport (now John F. Kennedy International Airport), which is located nearby⁴. The park was acquired by NYC Parks in three stages between 1956 and 1964 through an agreement with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey⁴.
