Hook Creek Park is a large nature area located at Brookville Blvd., Huxleyy St. bet. 149 Ave. and Hook Creek Basin in Queens.[1] It was founded on October 18, 1967 by the New York City Parks Department.[1] Hook Creek Park includes wetlands, woodlands, meadows and salt marshes that provide habitat for various wildlife species.[2] Hook Creek Park also features a wooden footbridge that connects Meadowmere Park in Nassau County with Meadowmere in Queens.[3] The bridge was originally opened in 1908 and is one of the oldest structures in the area. Hook Creek Park has faced some environmental challenges over the years, such as toxic waste dumping in the 1970s and land sale to developers in 2010.[2]
