The Flight 587 Memorial is a public monument located in Rockaway Park, Queens, New York City. It commemorates the 265 people who died in the crash of American Airlines Flight 587 on November 12, 2001. The memorial was designed by Dominican artist Freddy Rodriguez and consists of a curved granite wall with the names of the victims engraved on it, as well as a bronze sculpture of an abstracted airplane wing. The memorial also features a plaza with benches and landscaping.

The memorial was dedicated on November 12, 2006, on the fifth anniversary of the crash. It is situated beside the Rockaway Beach and Boardwalk at the south end of Beach 116th Street, near where the plane crashed into a residential neighborhood shortly after taking off from John F. Kennedy International Airport. The crash was caused by pilot error and turbulence from another aircraft.

The memorial is intended to honor the victims and their families, as well as to provide a place of healing and reflection for the community. Most of the victims were Dominicans or Dominican Americans who were traveling to Santo Domingo for family visits or vacations. The crash had a profound impact on both New York City and the Dominican Republic, as well as on aviation safety.

The memorial is maintained by NYC Parks and is open to the public year-round. Every year on November 12, a memorial service is held at the site to remember those who perished in the tragedy.¹²³⁴⁵
