Astoria Houses is a low-income public housing development located on Hallets Point, a peninsula that juts out into the East River in Astoria, Queens.[1] It was completed in 1951 and consists of 22 buildings, 1102 apartments and houses 3,135 people.[1] Astoria Houses is part of Long Island City, which was formed by the consolidation of several villages in 18702. Astoria Houses has a diverse population that reflects the immigration history of Astoria, which has welcomed people from various countries since the 19th century.[2]
