The 104th Field Artillery Armory is a historic military building located at 104th Avenue in Hollis, Queens, New York City. It was built between 1928 and 1936 for the 104th Field Artillery Regiment of the New York National Guard²⁵, which traces its origins to Battery K of the 1st Regiment of Artillery in 1867². The armory was designed by architect William E. Haugaard in a neo-Gothic style with a crenellated parapet and a central tower⁵. The armory also features a drill hall, offices, classrooms, storage rooms, and a gymnasium⁵.

The armory has been used for various purposes throughout its history. During World War I, the 104th Field Artillery Regiment was mobilized and deployed to France as part of the 27th Division². In 1919, it returned to New York and resumed its state duties². In 1924, baseball legend Babe Ruth joined the regiment and was assigned to Battery F at the Jamaica Armory³. He served until 1930 when he was honorably discharged as a sergeant³. In World War II, the regiment was again activated and sent to Hawaii and later to Okinawa as part of the 96th Infantry Division². After the war, it reverted to state control and moved to its new home at the Jamaica Armory on 168th Street in 1945⁴.

The old armory on 104th Avenue was then occupied by other units of the New York National Guard and Army Reserve, such as the 242nd Signal Battalion, Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 42nd Infantry Division (Rainbow), Company C of the 71st Infantry Regiment (Fighting), and currently by the 1st Battalion of the 258th Field Artillery Regiment (Washington's Artillery) and the 442nd Military Police Company⁴⁵⁶.

The armory is listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1995^[6]^.
