Jacqueline Mabey is a co-founder of Art+Feminism, an annual worldwide edit-a-thon created to add content to Wikipedia about female artists.
Background
Born in Willingboro Township, New Jersey, Mabey studied art history at Wilfrid Laurier University, McGill University, and the University of British Columbia.
Career
In 2014, Mabey co-founded Art+Feminism with Siân Evans, Michael Mandiberg, and Laurel Ptak.[1] At the time, only about 10% of the editors of Wikipedia were female, and the event was founded in part to address that problem. The 2014 event had 600 volunteers, and the 2015 event had 1300, with events hosted all over the world. Foreign Policy magazine listed Mabey as one of the 100 Leading Global Thinkers of 2014. In 2016, Art+Feminism had over 2,500 participants.
Personal life
Mabey prefers gender neutral pronouns.[2][3]
